Abstract
Individuals who identify as asexual often struggle to find representation in film and media. The short film and research study, This is My Story, challenges the current representation of asexuality in popular media. The research essay sample provides a brief history and outline of the ace community along with a deep dive analyzing several asexual characters and the various tropes that each one represents. This research, along with a survey of over 200 ace identifying individuals, provided the foundation of my 2018 short film by the same title. The film and research combined served as my undergraduate capstone and provided me the opportunity graduate with honors.
